EW is reporting that Aunjanue Ellis has joined the cast of Fox’s TV series Sleepy Hallow, playing Lori Mills, the late mother of Abbie (played by Nicole Beharie) and Jenny ((played by Lyndie Greenwood).
In the series, due to Lori’s mental condition, both Abbie and Jenny are taken from their mother as children and made wards of the state, eventually ending up in foster care. The girls believe their mother was crazy, unstable, even dangerous, and that 16 years ago she committed suicide while in the hospital’s mental ward. However, Abbie and Jenny will learn the real truth about their mother when new information surfaces.
Ellis, who’s currently featured in the James Brown biopic Get On Up, will next star in the BET/E1 mini-series Book of Negroes. She’s also had numerous TV credits including playing L.L Cool J’s wife Michelle on NCIS: LA the last few seasons as well as playing Supervising Agent Madeleine Hightower on CBS’ The Mentalist.
Sleepy Hollow returns Sept. 22 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
