The Beats, Bars and Cinema Influencers Brunch explored the impact Hip Hop Culture has had on Hollywood as hip hop turns 50.
Participants included Anthony Anderson, Chris Spencer, Ralph Farquhar, Mona Scott Young, MC Lyte and Derrick “DJ D-Nice” Jones.

Presented by Tarek “Terk” Stevens and Chuck West of Terk Entertainment Group and hosted by actor Anthony Anderson (Black-ish) and comedian Chris Spencer (Real Husbands of Hollywood), the Annual “Influencers Brunch” was held on the Saturday before the Oscars in Los Angeles and celebrated hip hop’s 50th Anniversary with an in-depth conversation with architects of the culture. The panel explored how hip hop culture has touched every corner of the world and has evolved into one of the most significant cultural forces today, influencing Hollywood, pop culture, fashion, and more.
Mona Scott Young broke down being a woman in a male-dominated landscape and her journey from artist manager to an influential woman in television reality programming. Alongside the late Chris Lighty, she has guided the careers of acts such as Busta Rhymes, 50 Cent, Mariah Carey, A Tribe Called Quest, and Missy Elliott.

Additionally, the Influencers Brunch featured a special moment with veteran Hollywood television producer, Ralph Farquhar speaking of his passion for representing the voice and perspectives of people of color. He explained his journey in successfully bringing comedy and education back to our TV screens, and the years and many obstacles he overcame to get there.
DJ D-Nice also graced the panel, reflecting on the epic virtual dance party, “Club Quarantine,” which brought joy and hope to us all during a difficult and harrowing time in 2020. As he spoke about the two-year anniversary, D-Nice expressed how unaware he was at first, at how far-reaching and impactful that moment was.

MC Lyte reflected on the impact of her career as well; taking us through the journey of her success as one of the most legendary female rappers of all time, and the importance of sisterhood, and the power of the female voice.
An elite list of actors, journalists, producers, corporate sponsors, and influencers graced the carpet including singer Al B Sure, comedian Affion Cookout, actors Columbus Short (How To Get Away With Murder), Amirah Vann (Underground), Jimmy Akingbola (Bel-Air), Judi Johnson (Double Cross), Derrick King (The Game), attorney Ben Crump, entrepreneur and television personality Daymond John, and fashion influencer Claire Sulmers of Fashion Bomb Daily. The event was presented by Terk Entertainment Group, a provider of black film production services, and sponsored by Amazon Studios, Amazon Music, Octet Group, Carter + Woodard, and Morgan Stanley’s Global Sports & Entertainment Group led by the Persaud Brothers.
