DDO Artists Agency has recently named Irene Cabrera as the new Director of Diversity and Inclusion and is rolling out a new initiative to support as reported by Deadline. Cabrera’s is already making way on the new venture to “identify, recruit, develop and retain clients representing groups that have been traditionally overlooked.”
In the agency’s National Diversity and Inclusion Initiative, Cabrera is tackling the new mission alongside DDO talent agents Anthony Boyer, head of theatrical in the LA office, and KaCee Hudson, DDO’s Chicago office director. The overall mission of the initiative is to foster relationships and create new opportunities within a welcoming culture.
According to a statement on DDO‘s website the agency acknowledges that:
“The entertainment business is in the midst of long-overdue and major changes in the way that people of color, non-binary and trans artists, and artists with disabilities are represented. The transformation is happening across all media, including film, television, theater, streaming services, advertising and audio. There are new standards in our society, which have resulted in significant demand from networks, studios and advertisers for high-quality talent that meets the expectations — and reflects the diversity – of contemporary audiences.” The statement went on to say, “DDO Artists’ National Diversity and Inclusion Initiative builds upon the agency’s commitment to embracing the artist as a whole, creating structures and systems to nurture and guide careers in more than one medium, while targeting opportunities that expand boundaries of race, gender and identity.”

DDO Partner & Agency Director, Abby Girvin, told Deadline that “DDO’s roster should be a reflection of the world in which we live, and Irene’s lifelong dedication to inclusion make her an invaluable resource to help make that goal a reality at the agency.”
DDO Artists Agency was founded in 1969 by Dorothy Day Otis with a goal of focusing on the youth of Hollywood. With offices in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York the agency represents talent in Commercial, TV, Film, Voice-Over , Print, Theater, Hosting, and Sports & Specialty.
