Director Pete Docter, Producer Dana Murray, and Co-Director & Writer Kemp Powers Talk ‘SOUL’

ALL THAT JAZZ – In Pixar Animation Studios’ upcoming feature film “Soul,” Joe Gardner is a middle-school band teacher whose true passion is playing jazz. A single unexpected step sends him to the cosmic realms where he finds the “You Seminar”—a fantastical place where Joe is forced to think again about what it truly means to have soul. Jamie Foxx was tapped to voice Joe. Disney Pixar film SOUL chronicles  the life of Joe Gardner (Jamie Foxx), a middle aged, middle school band teacher that dreams of one day performing on the big stage with the jazz greats. Despite a relatively unremarkable existence, he never loses his drive and holds on to his dream. 

When a freak accident causes his soul to separate from his body, he is thrust into The Great Beyond and becomes an unlikely mentor to an unlikely friend. 

The star studded cast includes Richard Ayoade, Angela Bassett, Daveed Diggs, Tina Fey, Jamie Foxx, Phylicia Rashad and Questlove.
