Blackfilm.com has learned that Joy Bryant has been cast as Debbie, the female lead, in the remake of the romantic comedy ‘About Last Night,’ which is now called ‘Sexual Perversity in Chicago.’ She joins Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy, and Regina Hall in the Screen Gems production.
Danny (Ealy) and Bernie (Hart) are two single men living their lives on the wild side. But when Danny meets Debbie (Bryant) at a bar and the two start a relationship with a one night stand, Danny’s life takes a different turn. How does this passionate night become a full affair and what effect will this relationship have on both people and their friendship with their best mates?
Will Packer (Think Like A Man) is producing the film. Steve Pink, who directed 2010’s Hot Tub Time Machine and wrote the screenplay for High Fidelity, is in talks to direct from a script written by Leslye Headland.
The 1986 film starred Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, James Belushi, and Elizabeth Perkins. Sexual Perversity in Chicago is actually the title of the 1974 David Mamet stage play that the ’86 film was based on.
Bryant, who currently stars as Jasmine Braverman on NBC TV’s Parenthood, will next be on the big screen opposite Kristen Bell, Dax Shepherd, and Bradley Cooper in ‘Hit and Run.’ Her other previous film credits include Antwone Fisher, Honey, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, and Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins.
Shooting on Sexual Perversity in Chicago is expected to start this fall.
