Baby Blue directed by Veteran Actress, Kim Fields, depicts the life-altering world of a first-time mother (portrayed by Shaquita Smith) who gets trapped in a mild-postpartum depression that escalates to a compulsive Postpartum Psychosis. Though she has help with the baby, she faces the brutal consequences of neglecting her own mental health and well-being. Delivering a raw, heart-wrenching look into the vulnerabilities of not only Postpartum Depression but self-neglect and the imminent danger of suffering in silence.
How was it working with Kim Fields?
“It was great working with Kim Fields, she was super nice and pleasant to work with. We both knew we wanted to work on a beautiful piece to help so many women, and that’s what we did.”
How was it working under COVID rules?
“It was challenging, but awesome to know we were safe! Tough times we’re living in, but at least you know you can go home to your family and friends.”
What films are you looking to play a role in in the future?
“Roles that have substance and draw people in. I’m not too big on what kind of film it should be as long as it’s a dope role to portray.”
What do you want people to get out of “Baby Blue?
“I would like them at least to know a lot of women will or have been diagnosed with Postpartum depression. It’s up to us to reveal that it’s normal and that it’s manageable, beatable, and it’s help out there.”
