Known for his role as Deebo in Friday and Next Friday, actor Tommy ‘Tiny’ Lister is dead at 62. TMZ reported that friends and associates of the actor began to worry after not hearing from him since Wednesday evening. It was then that Deputies were sent to the actors Marina del Rey home on Thursday afternoon for a welfare check to find the actor dead. It is believed he passed from natural causes, however, an autopsy will be completed to confirm.
Lister was famous for playing up his towering 6’5″ stature, often cast in tough guy roles. His character Deebo was known as the neighborhood bully, snatching chains and stealing bikes. In real life, most knew that it was just a character. Ice Cube, star, writer and director of the Friday franchise took to social media saying, “RIP Tiny “Deebo” Lister. America’s favorite bully was a born entertainer who would pop into character at the drop of a hat terrifying people on and off camera. Followed by a big smile and laugh. Thank you for being a good dude at heart. I miss you already.”
Lister began his acting career in the 80’s, also holding a pro wrestling stint in the WWE going by the name Zeus. The actor continued to land roles in popular 90’s films like The Fifth Element, Jackie Brown, and famously, Friday. Most recently he can be seen in The Dark Knight and was the voice behind the hot-tempered fox, Finnick, in the animated film Zootopia.
