Camille Rose Art of Glam Awards Honor Ruth E. Carter, Sergio Hudson and Top Hollywood Creatives

As Hollywood prepares for its big night at the Oscars, Janell Stephens, owner of the beauty brand Camille Rose, launched the inaugural Camille Rose Art of Glam Awards. The event celebrated the multicultural visionary creatives whose work behind the scenes shape the culture of beauty, fashion and style across film, television and the red carpet.

Held Wednesday March 11th during Oscar week at The Maybourne, a 5-star luxury Beverly Hills hotel, the black-tie event, honored the trailblazing artists and innovators whose talent influences how Hollywood’s biggest stars show up on screen and in the spotlight.

Among the evening’s honorees were two-time Oscar-winning costume designer and cultural storyteller Ruth E. Carter, who received the Janell Stephens Signature Award; iconic fashion designer and modern glamour architect Sergio Hudson, recipient of the Fashion Visionary Award; legendary film hairstylist and industry trailblazer Camille Friend, who received the Industry Impact Award; celebrity barber and grooming innovator John Mosley, honored with the Barber Visionary Award; and.

Also recognized were; celebrity makeup artist and beauty tastemaker Sheika Daley, who received the Makeup Visionary Award; red carpet celebrity hair specialist Tym Wallace, honored with the Red Carpet Hair Visionary Award; and celebrity stylist and fashion innovator Vincent Smith, who received the Style Disruptor Award.

A star-studded list of A-List celebrities came out in support of their favorite style visionaries. Here is a rundown of presenters and who they honored.

Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph presented Ruth E. Carter with “the Janelle Stephens Signature Award.”

Oscar nominated film icon, Samuel L. Jackson presented Camille Friend with “the Cinematic Hairstylist Visionary Award.”

Singer and actress Kelly Rowland presented Sheika Daley with “the Makeup Visionary Award.”

Grammy winner Durand Bernarr presented Vincent Smith with “the Style Disruptor Award.”

Master Barber Archie Davis presented John Mosley with “the Barber Visionary Award.”

Television actress Tamara Taylor presented Tym Wallace with “the Red Carpet Hair Visionary Award.”

Sergio Hudson cofounder Inga Villarroel presented Sergio Hudson with “the Fashion Visionary Award.”

Accepting her award Carter said:

“Glam can be bold like, Do The Right Thing, and fabulous and serious, like What’s Love Got to Do With It? Or It can be quiet and dignified.” She continued: “This evening is so special. It’s about Black women and men supporting one another, a tradition that has always existed in our culture. Glam isn’t just about product, its about history, it’s identity.” 

Guests walked the pink carpet at the luxury Beverly Hills hotel before the ceremony celebrating the creative forces whose artistry continues to define Hollywood glamour.
