Mini mogul in the making, Marsai Martin, will be voicing the scripted podcast based of the YA novel Free to Fall. The podcast will be the first project from the audio company Scripty, Deadline reports. Martin not only leads the podcast, but will also serve as the audio series executive producer. The series revolves around 16-year-old Rory Vaughn (Martin), who after her acceptance into an elite boarding school, uncovers a powerful secret society with mysterious connections to her late mother. Rory begins questioning society’s reliance on the decision-making app Lux, voiced by Tati Gabrielle (You), and instead, starts listening to the inner voice she’s been taught to ignore—a choice that leads her to uncover a truth neither she nor the world ever saw coming. The novel, Free to Fall, was written by Lauren Miller.
Joining Martin is Talitha Bateman (Away), Jahi Di’Allo Winston (Queen & Slim), and Jahking Guillory (Black Lightning). Also starring are; Jason Genao (On My Block), Victoria Vida (Project MC2), McKinley Freeman (Queen Sugar) Shaun J. Brown (Future Man), Joel Swetow (Kidding), TC Carson (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and Jamye Joseph (Last to Love).
Rashonda Joplin & Katie Christian pen the series while Christian also serves as director and executive producer alongside Joplin and Martin. Jennifer Smith serves as producer with Irie Williams serving as the shows casting director. Scripty is owned by Katie Christian.
Marsai Martin is an American actress who rose to fame from her role as Diane on ABC’s hit show Black-ish. Martin also starred in 2019’s Little, which she also produced, making her the youngest person to produce a movie. The actress is also the youngest person a studio deal, with the first-deal look she signed at Universal with her production company Genius Productions. The first film Martin is set to produce under the deal is the comedy StepMonster.
