James Ransone to replace Nate Parker in Spike Lee’s ‘Oldboy’Posted by Wilson Morales

With Nate Parker falling out of the project due to scheduling conflicts, Spike Lee has turned to a frequent collaborator to replace him with James Ransone boarding Filmdistrict and Good Universe’s “Oldboy.”
Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley currently star with Lee helming.
A remake of Chan-wook Park‘s Korean revenge thriller, pic revolves around a man who is kidnapped and imprisoned for more than a decade for unknown reasons.
Ransone will play a doctor who works with Olsen’s character. Parker was on board but had to leave the project due to his commitment to the Dark Castle project “Non-Stop” starring Liam Neeson.
Roy Lee and Doug Davison are producing with Good Universe prexy Nathan Kahane. Mark Protosevich wrote the script and will co-produce.
“Oldboy” marks the third time Lee and Ransone have worked together with Universal’s “Inside Man” and “Red Hook Summer” being the other two times.
The UTA and Management 360-repped Ransone was most recently seen in Summit’s “Sinister,” which bowed this past weekend with $18.3 million. He can be seen next in the New Regency pic “Broken City” starring Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe.
