Universal Pictures released the official trailer for Nope – the new horror film from Oscar winner Jordan Peele this past Super Bowl Sunday. The film is set to be release July 22, 2022 in theaters across the nation.
Peele seems to be keeping the exact details of the film under wraps as there’s no official logline for the film. What can be gathered from the trailer is there are horses, Black people and maybe some alien encounters. What’s for sure, is that there are some serious suspense filled moments. The film reunites Peele with Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Judas and the Black Messiah), who is joined by Keke Palmer (Hustlers, Alice) and Oscar nominee Steven Yeun (Minari, Okja) as residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.
Peele disrupted and redefined modern horror with Get Out and then Us. Now, he reimagines the summer movie with a new pop nightmare: the expansive horror epic, Nope.
Nope, which co-stars Michael Wincott (Hitchcock, Westworld) and Brandon Perea (The OA, American Insurrection), is written and directed by Jordan Peele and is produced by Ian Cooper (Us, Candyman) and Jordan Peele for Monkeypaw Productions. The film will be released by Universal Pictures worldwide.
Peele broke onto the scene with his Comedy Network sketch comedy show Key & Peele. He now uses his comedy to fuel the social undertones of his horror films that have impressed audiences across the world. The writer/producer/director has reintroduced audiences to The Twilight Zone, Candyman, and has produced the hit genre bending Lovecraft Country for HBO. He’s also producing the upcoming Wes Craven remake, The People Under The Stairs for Universal.
