With his newest romantic comedy, His, Hers and the Truth, written and directed by Coke Daniels, with Ashley A. Williams and Brad James due for this winter, Mann Robinson of Metro Wealth Studios has been a consistent force in multiple industries ranging from music, film and technology. Earlier in his career, Mann was a musician. With collaborative efforts with hip-hop heavyweights such as The Game and Trick Trick, one would think his plight as a rising artists was destined. However, it was the tech world that he moved into shortly after. “That was really my first passion. I always had an entrepreneurial mindset. God gave me a gift to be whatever I wanted to be. So in 2008 when film and technology married, I was ahead of the curve by opening my first computer repair store, Geeked Up.”
Furthering his entrepreneurial efforts, in 2014 he moved from Michigan to Atlanta and opened Metro Wealth Studios, his own film production company. There he started the Atlanta actors’ workshop, a program he created for aspiring actors that take lessons from well known established actors. “It’s Atlanta, these people are here. Tyler Perry is currently a great example of how powerful the city of Atlanta is. We’re currently revamping things for January; everyone should be on the lookout for something great.”
With the success of his company gaining momentum, he went on to directing his first film, Slangin’ Birds. “It’s funny, I slated myself to be a producer, but once the original director stepped away, I filled that role and it just felt right on all levels.” In 2017, Slangin’ Birds went onto win two first place awards at the Orlando Urban Film & Music Festival.
Since Slangin’ Birds, Robinson has produced a wide range of films including “TURNT” with Jamal Woolard, & Torrei Hart, TV Series “Power Corrupts” with Teresa Celeste and horror film “Sebastian.” What’s next for Mann Robinson? The busy director is currently working on his debut book, The Truest Words I Never Spoke, slated for next year. “My advice to anyone wanting to make it in the entertainment industry is, find out what the industry needs or is gravitating towards. Find out what makes things move. Don’t wait on anyone and don’t be afraid to jump out there and insert yourself into the game.”
Mann Robinson is on the rise. He is currently developing some amazing projects that will surely mark his place in the film industry. One of those projects is “The Soul For Real Story”. Mann, like most of us is a huge fan the hit song, Candy Rain, by Soul For Real. Production is set for 2020.
