Reginald Hudlin, Mark Ciardi and Ray McElrathbay talk Disney film ‘SAFETY’ with blackfilm.com correspondent Koku Tona.

SAFETY” produced by Mark Ciardi, directed by Reginald Hudlin, and written by Randy McKinnon and Nick Santora, is a biographical drama based on the true story of former Clemson Tiger cornerback Ray McElrathbey.

McElrathbey was a student at Clemson University on a football scholarship when he took full custody of his little brother Fahmarr, 11, to avoid entering him into the foster system while his mother completed drug rehab.

This is a story about compassion, family, and how the entire Clemson community rallied around McElrathbey and revolutionized the NCAA’s rules.

You’ve seen us sit down with  sat down with actors Corinne Foxx (“Kaycee”), Hunter Sansone (“Daniel Morelli”), & Jay Reeves (“Ray Ray”) to discuss their experience working directly with Ray, taking on biographical roles, and how the film has influenced their lives.

Now here’s a behind the scenes look with Ciardi, Hudlin, and McElthrabey to discuss the creative process and impact of the project.
