UMC Orders Legal Drama Series ‘LACE” Produced by Katrina Y. Nelson and Michelle Ebony Hardy

“Lace,” a new legal drama will soon be coming to UMC, the popular AMC Networks streaming service dedicated to Black TV and film. The series will follow a prolific Los Angeles attorney who often blurs the lines between right and wrong to protect her rich and powerful clientele. “Lace” is produced by Katrina Y. Nelson and Michelle Ebony Hardy via their KEMY Time Productions imprint, and created by Nelson, Adam Starks (Netflix’s “On My Block”) and Tracy Grant (Freeform’s “Lincoln Heights. Currently casting, the producers are in talks with Jamal Hill (Netflix’s Deuces, Brotherly Love) to direct the new series. The project has been given a six-episode order for its debut season.

Nelson and Michelle Ebony Hardy stated “KEMY Time Productions is a company co-founded by two Black women whose motto is ‘Creating Undeniable Content.’ Our love of storytelling and passion to tell those stories in smart, fresh, and compelling ways is what led us to combine our superpowers to produce ‘Lace.’ As the first project sold under our joint imprint, we’re excited to be working with UMC on this new series and we’re honored to have found a home that values and empowers Black content creators.”

Now, we are excited to partner with Katrina and Michelle on ‘Lace’ as they push the envelope and shatter preconceived notions of Black Woman Power.”

Nelson and Hardy will serve as co-showrunners for the new series, as well as executive producers alongside Starks and Grant. Dismuke, and VP of Development & Production, Nikki Love, will serve as executive producers for UMC. Sean Mik’ael Butler and Patrick Strøm, who most recently co-produced The Available Wife starring KJ Smith (BET’s “Sistas”) and currently serve as executive producers on Showtime’s “All the Smoke” digital series/podcast with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, will also serve as producers via Cultivate Entertainment. Production is slated to begin in March 2021.
