Oscilloscope Laboratories, via ioncinema.com, has released a clip from Andrew Dosunmu’s Mother of George, featuring Danai Gurira and Isaach De Bankole. The film opens on September 13.
After the joyous wedding between Adenike (Gurira) and Ayodele (De Bankolé), a Nigerian couple living in Brooklyn, marital complications arise out of their inability to conceive a child. The problem devastates their family and defies cultural expectations, leading Adenike to make a shocking decision that could either save her family or destroy it.
With opulent cinematography by the award-winning Bradford Young, Mother of George is a singular cinematic accomplishment that elevates this illustration of the complicated challenges of African immigrant life to a place of beauty and reverence.
Also featured in the film are Yaya DaCosta Alafia, Tony Okungbowa, Bukky Ajayi, and Angelique Kidjo.
