VH1 has released the first trailer to the biopic on pop/hip hop/R&B group TLC, titled Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story, featuring Keke Palmer as Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, Drew Sidora as Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Lil’ Mama as the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.
The film is directed by Charles Stone III (Drumline, Paid in Full, Mr. 3000) from a screenplay by Kate Lanier (What’s Love Got To Do With It, Set it Off, Beauty Shop).
Also in the film are Evan Ross playing Dallas Austin, Donny Boaz as TLC’s manager Bill Diggins, and Carl Anthony Payne II and Rochelle Aytes as Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid and Perri ‘Pebbles’ Reid respectively.
In this first look of the film, which will air this October on VH1, Lil Mama (Left Eye), Keke Palmer (Chilli), and Drew Sidora (T-Boz) morph into their roles perfectly and we watch as the best-selling female R&B group ever gets their start. The film, which was executive produced by surviving members Chilli and T-Boz, features the struggles, the rise to fame, and of course the music, that made us want to dance, sing along, and jokingly put a condom on our left eye when the moment felt right.
