With production currently ongoing on Charles Stone III’s ‘Lila & Eve,’ actors Yolonda Ross and Aml Ameen have come onboard, joining Viola Davis and Jennifer Lopez in the film.
Lopez and Davis star as grief-stricken mothers plotting to avenge the deaths of their children who were killed in a drive-by shooting. The Wrap first reported that Ross will co-star as a member of a “Mothers of Lost Children” support group, which helps women who have lost children to violence. Ameen tweeted that he will be playing Viola’s son in the film.
Producing the film are Darrin Reed, Sara Risher and Julius Tennon with Davis serving as executive producer.
Ross recently received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for her supporting role in John Sayles’ “Go for Sisters,” while Ameen was last seen in “Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” playing a young Cecil Gaines. Ross will have a recurring role in Philip Seymour Hoffman series “Happyish,” which got picked up by Showtime. Ameen will next be seen Gina Prince-Bythewood’s “Blackbird.”
“Lila & Eve” is slated to hit theaters in 2015.
