‘Zola’ Trailer Drops With Release Date Coming June 30

A24′s Sundance sensation, ‘Zola’ trailer drops with release date coming June 30, 2021.

Five years ago, a young Detroit waitress, A’Ziah Wells, tweeted an outlandishly crazy account of her encounter with the Tampa, Florida sex trafficking underworld. It drew the attention of influencers and many celebrities as well as the media, prompting a full length feature in Rolling Stone Magazine. Her story was then adopted into a film adaptation that made its Sundance premiere pandemic where it was bought by A24 (“The Last Man in San Francisco” and “Uncut Gems“) for distribution. Just in the time for summer, the infamous social-media tale will arrive at a theater near you. A24 just released the first trailer for Zola, based on that now infamous 148-tweet viral thread.

‘Zola’ Trailer rops With Release Date Coming June 30

Co-written by playwright Jeremy O. Harris and starring Taylour Paige, Riley Keough, Colman Domingo, and Nicholas Braun, the highly-anticipated film will finally hit our screens June 30.

“You wanna hear a story about why me & this bitch here fell out? It’s kind of long but full of suspense.”

A’Ziah “Zola” King created an instant viral sensation when she tweeted the story of two wild days in Tampa, Florida, with a stripper called Jessica. The Twitter narrative began, “You wanna hear a story about why me & this bitch here fell out? It’s kind of long but full of suspense.” It’s easy to see why we would be immediately drawn in.

The story starts when Zola meets fellow stripper Jessica at Hooters. The pair exchange numbers, and Jessica soon invites Zola on a trip to Florida to make some money. While previous stripping trips had netted some serious cash, Zola quickly realizes that Jessica’s invite is too good to be true. Mix in some prostitution, a suicide attempt, a murder, and a slew of unexpected guests, and you have the makings of the next summer smash.

Taylour Paige, who was recently seen in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, takes the lead as Zola, while Riley Keough plays stripper Stefani, who instigates the insane 48-hour road trip. Nicholas Braun plays Stefani’s long-suffering boyfriend. Colman Domingo plays a character named X (renamed from Z in the Twitter thread) who dominates every scene while Ari’el Stachel has been cast as Sean. ‘Zola’ Trailer Drops With Release Date Coming June 30
