Anthony Mackie led sci-fi movie, Synchronic, received a decent opening weekend in the Specialty Box Office sector bringing in almost a quarter million in sales. The film from Well Go USA, opened in 326 theaters ringing in $225,070 across the nation.
New Orleans is the backdrop for Synchronic, following two best friends Steve (Mackie) and Dennis (Jamie Dornan). Both paramedics, the pair answer calls to a series of accidents that are equally bizarre and gruesome. The two naively attribute it to a new party drug, until Dennis’ oldest daughter suddenly disappears, it goes beyond that. Steve stumbles upon a terrifying truth about the supposed psychedelic that will challenge everything he knows about reality — and the flow of time itself. Synchronic is written by Justin Benson and is directed by Benson in conjunction with Aaron Moorhead. Both artists worked together on the movies The Endless and VHS Viral.
Mackie has a long list of credits to his fame including Avengers: Infinity War, The Hate U Give, and Antman – to name a few. The actor is starring in the upcoming live-action Marvel series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier on Disney+. Synchronic can be seen now in select movie theaters across the country.
