Cory Hardrict, who was recently seen Clint Eastwood‘s Oscar nominated film “American Sniper,” has joined the cast of “November Criminals,” which stars Chloe Grace Moretz and Ansel Elgort.
Sacha Gervasi (“Hitchcock”) is directing the teen thriller film, which is an adaptation of Sam Munson’s 2011 novel about two teens who venture into the seedy underbelly of Washington, D.C. to investigate a friend’s murder.
Steven Knight wrote the script for the film, which also features Catherine Keener.
Sony Pictures Worldwide acquired distribution rights for the film in January; production is under way in D.C., and Beth O’Neil is producing alongside Erika Olde of Black Bicycle Entertainment and Lotus. Black Bicycle Entertainment is also co-financing the film with Lotus, which is handling remaining international sales.
Here’s how Amazon describes the book, “For a high school senior Addison Schacht has a lot of preoccupations, like selling drugs to his classmates, getting into college, and his complicated relationship with his best friend (NOT his girlfriend) Digger.
And he’s just added another to the list: the murder of his classmate Kevin Broadus, and his own obsessive plan to investigate the death. When presented with an essay question on his application to the University of Chicago–What are your best and worst qualities?–Addison finds himself provoked into giving his final, unapologetic say about all of the above and more, and the thrilling result is an unforgettable trip through the Washington, D.C. teenage underworld.”
Hardrict, whose film credits include Battle: Los Angeles, Warm Bodies and Lovelace, will next be seen starring in Brotherly Love and in Legendary’s sci-fi thriller Spectral opposite Emily Mortimer and James Badge Dale. He also has wrapped work in two indies: Destined, and Car Dogs with Octavia Spencer.
