The Little Mermaid Live! Review.

THE LITTLE MERMAID LIVE! – ABC’s “The Little Mermaid Live!” stars Queen Latifah as Ursula. (ABC/Andrew Eccles)

Growing up and until this day I’ve always enjoyed watching The Little Mermaid. Don’t get me wrong, I love the other Disney lives but the story of Ariel is by far my favorite.

I know a lot of y’all are fans of Ariel, but my fav was always and will always be Flounder. His loyalty was absolutely everything, even when he didn’t agree with the princess choices. A true rider. So when I found out The Little Mermaid was going to be shown live on ABC I made sure I was home sitting in front of my TV by 7:55pm.

It’s been 3 Decades since The Little Mermaid first aired. And the Live version was worth the wait for it come back.

I enjoyed every minute of it. I truly enjoyed how even though it was live they still incorporated the movie into it. My favs of the night was Shaggy and the Queen. First let me say the Queen was once told by an agency that she “will never be an A list celebrity”. Well you showed them exactly why you are the Queen and deserve your spot on the A – List. You played the you know what out of Ursela- from the vocals, to the costume, to the evil sea witch vibe you gave. It was beyond spectacular. Queen, Keep Doing Your Thang!!

Shaggy “Mr. Loverman” came all the way threw playing Sebastian. I just loved how they did Kiss The Girl. This scene was brought to life. The boat was going around the stage with Prince Eric (played by Graham Phillips) and Ariel (played Auli’i Cravalho) while Sebastian (Shaggy) and his sea crew sung our all time favorite Kiss The Girl. It was just so many amazing and creative things going on. From the dancing jelly fish and star fish (aerial dancers).

There is so much more I want to tell you but I know ABC will show it again. It will be a great Christmas movie. So if they show it again I highly recommend grabbing the kiddies an some popcorn. Better yet if you’re one of the fortunate ones to buy tickets and it goes on tour. Which I highly recommend. Go and treat your family. O and grab an extra ticket for your girl Asia Diamond.

After all we’re all a part of the Disney Family.
