NBC Picks Up ‘Family History’ From Marqui Jackson

NBC has landed themselves a new medical drama with Family History from writer/producer Marqui Jackson. The project will be produced by Imagine Television Studios and CBS studios – where Imagine has a deal. The show received a script commitment with penalty.

Family History revolves around an African-American family composed of doctors – the Vincents. The family looks to serve their community through medicine by purchasing an inner-city hospital where, coincidentally, one of their kin lost their life. Through this, the Vincents come to uncover long hidden family secrets that threaten to tear them apart. The project is written and will be executive-produced by Jackson along with Brian Grazer of Imagine Studios and TV president Samie Kim Falvey.

Jackson is no stranger to TV, he’s written for Fox/20th’s Rosewood, House, Lone Star, and CBS’ Battlecreek. Currently, Jackson is serving as co-executive producer of The Resident on Fox for three consecutive seasons.
