Stevie Wonder To Headline ‘Global Citizen Live’ in Los Angeles

It has just been announced that musical icon Stevie Wonder will be headlining the Los Angeles leg of Global Citizen Live.

Adam Lambert, Chloe x Halle, Demi Lovato, H.E.R., ONEREPUBLIC, Ozuna, The Lumineers and 5 Seconds of Summer will be headlining the L.A. event on September 25th. This will mark Wonder’s second headlining performance at Global Citizen, first appearing at 2017’s Global Citizen Festival at Central Park in New York.

Both events are part of the once-in-a-generation day of unity across six continents to be broadcast over 24 hours on networks around the world: ABC News live will broadcast the full event beginning at 12:30 p.m EDT on Sept. 25, live on BBC One on Sept. 25 from 5:30 p.m., and across the BBC platforms until approx. 3:00 a.m.; and airing a highlights show on ABC on Sept. 26 at 7:00 p.m. 

Stevie Wonder says of his inclusion in Global Citizen Live: “It is again my pleasure and honor to join with all of the artists who are using their gift of song to celebrate the Global Citizens’ event by doing our part in working against global warming, starvation and singing for equality around the world … We Are The Village!!!”

Beginning in 2012, Global Citizen Live has the mission to rally citizens to call on world leaders, philanthropists and corporations to defend the planet and defeat poverty by prioritizing climate change, famine and vaccine equity, Global Citizen will be calling on business and government leaders in the U.K. to: show continued global leadership through a successful COP by helping to ensure that the $100 billion in climate finance is delivered by CO26 and to join the Race to Zero coalition to help increase private sector ambition.

Further performances will be made by BTS, Usher, Andrea Bocelli, Green Day, Keith Urban, Lorde, Metallica and Ricky Martin will round out the broadcast, cutting to ticketed, COVID-19-compliant events:

In collaboration with COP26, Global Citizen Live coincides with the UN General Assembly (September), prior to the G20 Meeting (October) and COP26 Meeting (November). Focused on vaccine equity, famine and climate change, “Global Citizen Live” will call on leaders to deliver: 1 billion vaccines to the poorest countries by the end of September; meals for the 41 million people on the brink of famine; helping curb emissions by joining the Race to Zero, and pledging a combined total of 1 billion trees by 2022 in support of 1t.org.
