Businesswoman and former Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett, serves as executive producer on COVID-19 vaccination special “Roll Up Your Sleeves: Presented by Walgreens” (working title). The hourlong hosted special looks to raise awareness and encourage all Americans to get vaccinated to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. NBC will televise the special on Sunday, April 18 at 7 p.m. ET/PT. The special aims to dispel concerns, provide information and encourage those who are hesitant to receive a vaccine to participate, all with the goal of increasing vaccinations for people to help end the pandemic and allow states to fully reopen so family and friends can gather and reunite. The special will feature prominent public figures, comedians, artists and performers, as well as frontline and medical professionals.
Roll Up Your Sleeves: Presented by Walgreens will be produced by ATTN:, Civic Nation and Deviants Media. Executive producing alongside Jarrett are Tom Werner, Matthew Segal, Jarrett Moreno, Taye Shuayb, Jessie Surovell, Mike Vainisi, Audrey Morrissey, Ivan Dudynsky and Chad Hines.
From 2009-2017 Jarrett served as President Barack Obama’s senior advisor and assistant for public engagement and intergovernmental affairs. She has long been in politics, getting her start in 1987 working for the Harold Washington administration. On the business side, Jarrett served as CEO of the Habitat Company, was a member of the Chicago Stock Exchange, performed as vice chairwoman of the board of trustees of the University of Chicago, was a trustee of Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry, and currently serves on the board of directors of USG Corporation, a Chicago-based building materials corporation. Former President Barack Obama recently appointed Jarrett as the interim president of his foundation, the Obama Foundation.
