The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has outdone itself with the heartwarming evening of honors during the 15th Governors Awards held yesterday evening in Hollywood, CA. The star studded event began with a carpet lined with celebrities to include Jennifer Lopez, Jurnee Smollett, Jennifer Hudson, Sharon Stone, Nicole Kidman, Coleman Domingo, Zoe Saldana, Angelina Jolie, Lupita N’yongo and more.

Opening remarks by Academy President Janet Yang included announcement of the official 2025 Oscars® date, slated for March 2nd with host Conan O’Brien, and an acknowledgment of the members present for the evening of events.
Coleman Domingo opened the show with a hilarious and heartfelt speech which set a tone for the night as he promised to “Leave My Headshot on the Table” upon recognizing the many talents present and being honored.
The 15th Governors Awards, in partnership with Rolex, highlighted and honored the achievements of 5 individuals who have left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry and the world. Quincy Jones, who passed away on November 3rd was given an Honorary Oscars®.
Nicole Kidman brought to the stage casting director Juliet Taylor, who is known for launching careers of uber talented actors in iconic films like The Bird Cage & Interview with the Vampire. Taylor also received and Honorary Oscars®.

With a hilariously crafted speech, Hugh Grant introduced Richard Curtis, whom he declared famously did not want him cast in Four Weddings and a Funeral. Curtis was honored with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for his continued philanthropic work that has raised billions of dollars and countless acts of services changing the lives of millions across the globe through programs like Red Nose Day.

Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, the producing partner siblings behind the Bond franchise, were honored with the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award. The pair were introduced by Daniel Craig and a pitch from Coleman Domingo early on to fill the shoes of Bond in future productions.

Culminating the night, was a beautifully crafted honor to Quincy Jones. A moment flanked by a touching story from Jamie Foxx of their interactions during the development of Ray and a tearful acceptance speech from 4 of his 7 children; led by Rashida Jones. A highlight reel sharing treasured moments throughout his expansive career was followed by an emotional performance by Jennifer Hudson of his song “Maybe God Is Tryin’ to Tell You Somethin” from the Academy Award Nominated film The Color Purple.




In the true fashion of elegance and sophistication, The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences left the room filled with joy, laughter, tears and hope for a brighter future.
