It was just on March 14th of this year that Quincy marked his 91st birthday with a heartfelt post on Instagram, reflecting on his journey from the South Side of Chicago to the world stage. In his words, “This life that I’ve been blessed to live is not one that I take for granted. As a little Black boy growing up in the South Side of Chicago, making it to 91 wasn’t even a dream because it never seemed possible.” He spoke of the countless individuals who supported him along the way, helping him reach an age he never thought he’d see. Quincy reminded us of the impact that simple acts of kindness and encouragement can have on a life.

For Quincy, each year was a milestone, a victory over the obstacles he once faced. His journey stands as a testament to what’s possible when talent meets resilience, even in the face of adversity. His legacy lives on, not just in the music that defined generations but in the hope he gave to those who might not dare to dream as he once did. May he rest in peace, knowing his life’s work continues to inspire and resonate around the world.
