King Akeem and Semmi are returning to Queens for royal business in Coming 2 America, set to hit Amazon Prime on March 5. The streamer has just released the official trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to the 1988 classic that made everyone fall in love with two best friends from Zamunda.
The duo is returning to New York upon King Akeem’s father, King Jaffe Joffer (James Earl Jones), request as a male heir is needed to take over the throne and Akeem has a son that must be found. The Keny Barris, Barry W. Blaustein & David Sheffield penned sequel is directed by Craig Brewer and is produced by Murphey and Kevin Misher for Paramount. A handful of the original cast like – Kiki Layne, Shari Headly and Wesley Snipes – are coming back to share the screen with newcomers Leslie Jones, Jermaine Fowler, & Tracy Morgan.
