Blackfilm.com has been provided with an exclusive first look trailer & clip to NAACP Image and Critics Choice Award nominated actor Mike Colter’s (Evil, Luke Cage) latest film as the title character in I’m Charlie Walker. The film, slated for release in 2020, also stars EMMY Award® nominated actor Dylan Baker (The Good Wife), Safiya Fredericks (Sorry to Bother You), Boots Riley (Sorry to Bother You), Monica Barbaro (Top Gun 2) and a special appearance by former Mayor of San Francisco The Honorable Willie Brown.

Based on a true story, Mike Colter stars as trucking and construction entrepreneur Charlie Walker. In 1971, two oil tankers violently collided off the San Francisco Coast spilling millions of gallons of crude oil creating an environmental disaster.

Against all odds, Charlie was able to secure one of the most lucrative contracts to clean the coastline that threatened much of the San Francisco Bay. With only three trucks, an incredible work ethic and a whole lot of heart, the film recounts the racial discrimination Walker endured as he tries to save the coastline all while fighting institutional racism from the very company that hired him in the first place.

“Casting the right actors is paramount. The moment Mike Colter took on the voice and the walk of Charlie Walker; I knew the movie would work. Imposing and vulnerable all at once, the cast began to orbit around him like the sun. It lifted the movie and was a joy to witness,” says director Patrick Gilles.
I’m Charlie Walker was produced by FAMM Productions and directed by Patrick Gilles. William O’Keeffe served as Executive Producer, Charlie Walker and Mike Regen (The Kill Hole, You Got Served) as Producers, and Mark Harris (“Black and Privileged”, “Black Coffee”) served as Associate Producer.
